Picture this:
You're dressed in your finest attire, gliding along with your companion on bicycles to what you know will be an elegant affair. As you arrive to the party, a smartly dressed valet greets you and whisks your bicycles away and secures them. You join the others inside and once seated, tuck into a sumptuous meal made almost entirely from fresh locally-grown ingredients:
Humboldt Grass-fed Beef braised with Pierce Family Farm carrots, celery, leeks and shallots, Blake Richard Farm beets garnished with Cypress Grove chevre, Warren Creek Farms potatoes creamed in Strauss Creamery butter and truffle oil, Shakefork Farm barley with Blake Richard Farm chard and kale, Brio bread, and a salad made with greens from Little River Farms and Deep Seeded Farm. Desert of Brio cream puff pastry with Humboldt Creamery ice cream and kiwi coulis sauce.
The bar has wine from Robert Goodman, Carter Cellars, Violet Green Winery, and others, and beer from Mad River and Lost Coast Breweries.
As the party gets a bit more raucous, you and your companion step and twirl to country western swing music from Rooster McClintock, and then wait in anticipation to see if you have won one of the incredible prizes in the silent auction, like one of the bicycles, an electric base guitar, or dinner for two and night stay at the Carter House.
At the end of the evening, your valet retrieves your trusty steeds, and you glide off for a romantic ride home from a fulfilling event.
Sound good? You could experience all this and support of balanced and sustainable transportation in Humboldt County.
